What are the benefits of a concrete
pool and/or whirlpool?
A concrete pool and/or whirlpool can be custom designed, as
shotcrete can be applied to any shape. Since it is a rebar
reinforced product, it is built to withstand the climate and
soil conditions and is virtually everlasting. A concrete pool
or whirlpool is a timelessly elegant way to add beauty and
value to your backyard, creating a personal resort designed
to meet your needs and fit your lifestyle.
What
is shotcrete?
Similar to gunite, but premixed, this combination of sand,
cement and water is shot out of hose at a high pressure
and bonds with rebar to form a waterproof vessel with great
structural integrity.
What is marbelite?
Also referred to as plaster, it is a mixture of white cement
and white or coloured marble dust used as an interior finish
over the gunite or shotcrete of a pool. It can be given
a colour or it may be left white.
How do I maintain the water chemistry?
There are many options for keeping your water crystal clear.
It is easy with automatic water treatment systems. Listed
below are the most popular systems BonaVista Pools installs.
- Chlorine or Bromine via automatic feeder – standard
and easy to operate. For more information on an easy 3 step
treatment program, go to
www.bioguard.com
- Salt Water Chlorine Generator – provides excellent
water quality on a 24 hour basis. For more information,
please visit
www.zodiac.com
- Ionization: Copper/Silver – provides great water
quality. May need minor addition of bromine in very warm
or highly used pools. Water feels free of chemicals. Copper
kills algae and silver kills bacteria. For more information,

How do I keep my pool clean??
BonaVista Pools recommends the installation of a Polaris
Vac-Sweep automatic pool cleaner, which runs on a timer.
You awake to a sparkling clean pool, as this unit sweeps
and vacuums your pool during a 6 hour cycle at night. For
more information go to: www.polarispoolsystems.com
The only additional cleaning required is to empty skimmer
baskets, the Vac-Sweep bag and backwash the filter weekly.
Waterline tile may also need to be scrubbed. BonaVista Pools
also offers pool maintenance year round, so you don’t
have to do anything other than swim!
How do I heat my pool and/or whirlpool?
BonaVista Pools recommends that you have a heater installed
to extend your swimming season in the pool. All whirlpools
have a smaller heater to ensure the ultimate in therapeutic
benefits – recommended water temperature is 104 degrees
F for a truly relaxing soak. If you have natural gas supplied
to your home, most swimming pool and whirlpool systems include
a natural gas fired pool heater. Go to www.jandy.com
for more information on Laars™ pool and whirlpool
heaters. Heaters can also run on propane, electricity and
solar energy.
Can my pool remain open year
round?
As long as your water is kept at a temperature above freezing
and the filtration pumps are circulating, you can keep your
pool and/or whirlpool open year round. Most BonaVista Pools
clients however open their pools in the spring and close
them by Thanksgiving. A solar blanket can be used to keep
the water warm, reducing the cost of your utilities required
for the pool.
How can I keep the pool
and whirlpool area safe?
Municipal laws require that your pool and/or whirlpool are
enclosed with a fence and self-closing gate. You may also
have a safety cover installed, which is attached to anchors
that are flush-mounted around the deck of your pool area.
BonaVista Pools can measure and order a custom sized safety
cover for your backyard. |
