Hello Sunshine SALE

Get fired up this winter

BonaVista gets a nod in the Toronto Star blog by Vicky Sanderson. Hot Home Products – All Fired Up.

Discussing the various options of creating the warmth of outdoor fireplace in your home, Planika decor fires create real fire without any smoke or smell. A revolutionary interior design concept, Planika mobile fire solutions can be arranged within just about any indoor or outdoor environment. Fuelled by Fanola®—a renewable green liquid certified for user and environmental safety—Planika fires combine contemporary, international design with the advanced technology of environmentally friendly, smokeless, ethanol-based fire. They create instant atmosphere and influence everyday life by introducing fire into the most sophisticated spaces.

While gas is king, electric and, more recently, fireplaces fuelled by ethanol, are also popular choices, especially where gas is not an option. “Many condo builders are now putting them in as a standard feature,” explains Cerenzia.

Ethanol fireplaces run either on gel or liquid fuel. According to Gripton, the gel tends to burn blue while liquid fuel produces a warmer, more yellow fire. While ethanol fireplaces produce a real flame, they require no venting. That has given rise to some stunning sculptural fire features, such as the colourful range of fireboxes (about $6,000), or the coolly elliptical Zeta (about $11,000) from EcoSmart Fire.

These units use clean-burning distilled ethanol and can be moved in and out of doors, depending on the season. If the prices give you sticker shock, keep in mind that EcoSmart will introduce lower-priced units this summer. Look for availability at www.ecosmartfire.com. Look, too, at Bona Vista Pools in Toronto (www.bonavistapools.com), which carries a lovely line of ethanol fire features from a Polish company called Planika (www.planikafires.com).
